I have used almost all types of laptops and know what are are the pros and cons of each laptop. My personal experience is to buy a laptop of either Hp or Dell only. Many people won't agree with this of buying a laptop of Hp or Dell only. They might be having different thinking and experience and I even respect theirs perspective. I think that laptops of Hp or Dell gives the "Quality" to the customer. You can get a laptop of Acer, Sony, Asus etc. with better configuration and features in the same price range at which you buy Hp/Dell laptop but the things in which these laptops lack behind Hp/Dell laptop are Quality, Durability and the lifetime of laptop. I have a hp laptop that I am using from past 6 years and there came a problem only once and thats due to its battery which i get it replaced and now its working perfectly fine. So from here only you can analyse how much durable Hp laptops are.

Now the question comes which one should i prefer among the two brands Hp or Dell. I advise you that it is your personal choice both are almost of equal worth. I also observed some problems in both the laptops. In Hp laptops the major problem their users face is its heating problem. Many hp laptops product gets heated very quickly which can result in damage of internal parts of laptop. So please read the reviews of that particular product before buying. Also there is a problem of low battery backup in some hp laptop products. Most people prefer Dell laptops only because of their good services. Dell covers complete warranty for any physical damage caused during that warranty period. In my personal opinion this is a very idiotic thing that you just throw your laptop to ground with a thinking that it will get repaired for free from the company. You might be thinking that there are some demerits of both Hp and Dell laptops then why am i encouraging you to buy their product. The answer to this is that yes there are some problems in both these brands but they are obviously better than other brands on account of quality and durability of the product.

For Hp laptops if there is a heating problem then you should firstly go for BIOS(Basic Input Outpu System) update.

In the following article i will explain you how to check your current BIOS version and how to update it if update is available.

In windows, from the start bar search for 'System Information'. In System Information look for the BIOS information. This is a snapshot of my laptop Information :

For Hp laptops go to http://www.hp.com/ and choose your country. Then select support and drivers option from there and find your laptop model number. Now look if the BIOS version you have is upto date or not.

(Compare both the pictures and you will find that mine is updated one)

In my laptop when i installed Ubuntu in my laptop, it heats very badly to a temperature of about 70-80 °C which is enough to damage all your laptop parts if its use is continued. After searching a lot about fixing this problem i found a very easy solution.

Just type the following commands in your command terminal :

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:webupd8team/jupiter
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install jupiter

 

This will install a application named Jupiter. In this application turn on the power saver mode and you are done. You will observe the changes within 10-15 minutes.

Many a times you may have observed that a shortcut virus have crawled in your pendrive or memory card. All the files and folders in your USB disk are converted into shortcut icons and you are unable to find your orignal files. The pendrive may contain some important documents which you think are deleted from it which are not. In actual all the files in the pendrive become hidden to you. There is a tendency of everyone of formating that USB drive to remove that shortcut virus from it. In this article i will show you how to remove such type of shortcut virus without formating your pendrive. Just follow these simple steps :

Shortcut virus infected memory card :

Insert that virus infected pendrive into your pc or laptop.

Open the run command box from start or by just pressing WIN + R key together. In this type 'cmd'.

 In the command terminal type the following two commands :
 (assuming your pendrive letter as k )
       1) Type k:
       2) Now type attrib -h -r -s /s /d k:\*.* and wait for a minute
(Edit the letter 'k' with your own drive location)
